POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Healthy Living Director, the Wellness Coach provides assistance, coaching and motivation to members on the wellness floor while building relationships with members and increase connectivity on the wellness floor. Engages with members in pursuit of their wellness goals connecting them to small group programming including group fitness, small group training and personal training.
They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Builds positive relationships with members by serving needs and concerns and taking the initiative to provide excellent customer service.
- Responsible for leading Start Strong program, Wellness Orientations, Wellness Challenges, and other fitness initiatives.
- Holds proficient knowledge of Wellness and Cardio equipment.
- Assists with teaching Group Ex and small group training sessions as needed.
- Models relationship building skills in all interactions.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Supports delivering Cause Driven Tours to promote membership.
Job Schedule(Days): Monday; Tuesday; Wednesday; Thursday; Friday; Saturday; Sunday
Job Schedule(Time): 5am-9am, 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm, 5pm-9pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
- Attention to detail, with a consistent high level of responsiveness and follow-up.
- Must obtain certification by the YMCA in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen upon hire
- National certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification preferred.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
