We are seeking an exceptional Senior General Manager to spearhead the operations of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility nestled within the vibrant Walmart community in Bentonville, AR. With an expansive 360,000 square feet of space dedicated to aquatics, recreation, fitness, youth programming, and whole health, this facility promises to be a hub of vitality and enjoyment for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and direct all business operational, facility and program service aspects, ensuring consistency amongst all the Whole Health & Fitness business units (fitness, aquatics, recreation, member services, whole health, and youth activity) in accordance with HealthFitness operational, quality, safety, and service standards. 
  • Leads the development and implementation of the yearly strategic business plan to identify contract deliverables, program/service offerings, targeted outcomes and reporting metrics, and a marketing strategy to ensure that high customer satisfaction is maintained, and overall Walmart business objectives are met.
  • Confers with senior staff. Reviews activity, operations, and sales to determine changes in programs or operations.
  • Interfaces with the Walmart liaison(s) and peripheral departments as appropriate to assess needs and to continually identify programming solutions.
  • Adherence to the program budget to ensure expenditures are made in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Allocates operating budgets to departments. Reviews, advises, and approves all purchasing and expenses. Supervises the reconciliation of all revenues.
  • Reviews the operating results of the program, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Responsible for contract compliance and coordinates contract renewal efforts. Partners with PME – Director to negotiate staff compensation and/or management fee increases.
  • Directs the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling of Business Operations Team.
  • Conducts formal performance appraisals of the lead management team staff on at Mid-Year and Year-End basis and initiates formal corrective action process when warranted.
  • Leads regular staff meetings with the business operations management team and attends business unit group staff meetings to ensure associates are informed about HealthFitness, client and program events, initiatives, and status.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the safety, security, and legal issues associated with the operation, and all member relation issues.
  • Supervises the development and final approval on all marketing and promotional material.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications.
  • A degree or professional certification in the field of business or finance strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with the majority of that in a large community/commercial/corporate environment with multifaceted programming that includes fitness/recreation/aquatics.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certification through the American Heart Association, Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments and financial practices sufficient to manage an overall multi-million-dollar budget.
  • Experience leading mid-level management, strong leadership, and team management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and membership growth mindset.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands, meet deadlines, and collaborate with all business units.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals both within HealthFitness and Walmart.
