Salary: $80,000 - $83,000 Annually

The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking a Director, Health & Fitness. In collaboration with the Senior Director, the Director, Health & Fitness will provide leadership to quality assurance, learning and development, resource management, and program development. The responsibilities will include assessing program/service quality through observation, feedback, and review of member/participant surveys, designing, and executing strategies to increase quality, including but not limited to leading and designing learning opportunities for staff, managing the procurement of our state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and developing program models to address opportunities to serve New Yorkers. The Director, Health & Fitness will shape the brand of the department to be known as consistently exceeding the expectations of those we serve in both our product and the way we treat others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance: Reviewing member/participant surveys, identifying trends in the surveys, gathering feedback from the cabinet and Executive Directors, and designing both Association and Branch strategies rooted in industry best practices and trends. Providing interim leadership during times of transition at a branch.
- Learning & Development: Identifying and planning development opportunities, leading training, and designing curriculum in collaboration with AO’s Learning and Development team and the cabinet for the key staff in Healthy Lifestyles. This will include:
- Creating a Leveling system within Club Connect to enhance staff development.
- Training CPR and First Aid for our frontline teams.
- Assist the Senior Director in implementing emergency response drills for Healthy Lifestyles.
- Other training as necessary.
- Resource Management: Collaborating with our branches to ensure we have the right mix of fitness equipment to meet the needs of our communities, track fitness equipment spending, rebates, invoices, and the leasing spreadsheet shared with finance bi-annually that is used in annual budgeting.
- Program Development: Identifying city-wide opportunities for program models that meet the diverse and varied health and wellness needs of New Yorkers, develop program models in collaboration with branch subject matter experts, facilitate the rollout of new programs and evaluate the program’s effectiveness.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Group Exercise certification.
- Certified Personal Trainer.
- Two (2) or more years of experience leading the health and fitness strategy of one location.
- One (1) - two (2) years of facilitating learning and coaching staff.
- Certifications to attain within one (1) year of hire: YMCA Introduction to Fiscal Management, YMCA Introduction to Leading Others, HSI BLS, and First Aid Instructor.
- Knowledge of Non-profit management, Salesforce, and Cornerstone a plus.

- Knowledge of the Health club industry, Group exercise, and Personal Training.
